About Us

Ever since Opa John purchased his first plot of land back in the 1930s, farming has remained a family tradition. Three generations later, and still located in the southern lands of the Fraser Valley, Taves Family Farms continues to thrive. Only, now it’s John’s grandson, Loren Taves, who operates the farm along with his wife, Corinne, and their children.

Opa—Loren’s grandfather—farmed the Southlands of Abbotsford from the 1930s through the 1970s. In 1948, he traded in his horse for a Farmall Cub tractor—a sturdy new helper that didn’t tire easily. Up until about 15 years ago, this little red Cub was still puttering through the pumpkin rows, weeding as faithfully as ever. Now retired, it rests at the entrance of Taves Estate Cidery, quietly holding its place in our family’s farming story.
