Mom Taves Applecake

  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • ½ cups oil
  • ½ cup applesauce
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg
  • 3 cups apples finely chopped

Directions

Mix wet ingredients together first and then add in dry ingredients. Do not overmix. Stir in apples. Line a 12 x 15 inch cookie sheet with parchment paper. Spoon batter into cookie sheet and bake for 25 – 35 minutes until brown.

Once cake is cool, ice with caramel frosting.

Caramel Frosting Recipe

  • ½ cup margarine
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups icing sugar

Directions

Heat margarine until melted and stir in brown sugar. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Add milk and use whisk to mix in. Heat until boiling. Place the bowl in a sink full of cold water and gradually beat in ice sugar until set. Once cake is cool, frost with icing.
